Diane Villadsen is a San Jose-based photographer celebrated for her bold use of color. In her work, human shapes, setting, and geometry combine into visual sculpture. A linguistics major, she built her signature style through years of trial and error and a commitment to running with creative impulses. Diane thinks of each project as part of a whole, with new photos adding to the patchwork of her visual identity. In recent years, Diane has gravitated toward set design and on-site installations as a primary medium. Photography has led her into a passion for design and storytelling. She has presented her work at Apple Union Square (San Francisco), taught a video course for Domestika, and exhibited images at international venues. In 2025, she was chosen as the portrait master for Vivo's smartphone launch campaign, traveling to Kuala Lumpur to speak about a project shot entirely on a mobile device.
