As an illustrator, finding work is all that’s on your mind. And who better than agent extraordinaire Skye Kelly-Barrett to tell you exactly what brands and clients are looking for.
We asked Skye Kelly-Barrett to reveal her insider knowledge. Skye launched The SVKB Group where she manages Roar (a boutique artist representation agency) and Skye Victoria Projects (an event and creative projects company). Using her years of experience she has built a relationship with some of the most incredible people in the industry and loves looking for any possible means to get art in front of new eyes. We’re excited to welcome her on Mimi and let her share her insights with you all.
Here are some of the themes which will be covered:
Creating a portfolio that agencies and clients will love (spoiler, it’s all about you, not us!).
Why rejection matters.
Getting commissioned
Working and growing as a creative.
Contact etiquette
Nitty gritty/legal
Do you need an agency?
The agent/artist relationship.

Having completed a BA in Art History and Design at Kingston University and an MA in Visual Culture and Museum Design from Westminster University, Skye realised there was a space in the market to showcase art and artists from the new contemporary and low-brow art world, so took the step to create and run a hugely popular company that focussed on low-brow artists where she produced limited edition screen-print series, artist focussed events and exhibitions. From here, she launched The SVKB Group, a place for two creative companies: Roar Artist Agency and Skye Victoria Projects.
Skye has worked on creative projects throughout the UK featuring the work of both upcoming and established artists, illustrators and designers. Alongside these events, Skye has independently produced and edited three books, screen print series, and managed creative and educational workshops. Using her years of experience she has built a relationship with some of the most incredible people in the industry and loves looking for any possible means to get art in front of new eyes.
